Trekking
in the Everest region is not only about reaching the
Everest Base Camp, though being there looking up at the
Everest massif is a humbling experience. But for the most
stunning views of Everest and all the panoramas of the
highest Himalayan peaks you have to get up high. Everest
Three Passes trek brings you the unparalleled experience
from west to east of all that is to sample in the Upper
Khumbu. Renjo La is the gateway pass to Gokyo Valley,
and to see it from all possible vantage points you'll climb
Gokyo Ri and then look back at that side of Khumbu
once more, from the crest of Cho La, the gateway to
the Everest side of Khumbu. Having tackled Cho La you get to
warm up and breathe oxygen-richer air briefly as you descend
toward Chola Tso, with grand panorama of Ama Dablam before
you, keeping speechless. From here you'll be going up again,
toward Kala Pattar and marveling at the solid pyramid
of Pumori, Everest Base Camp down below. Gorak Shep
will bring another short relief before you'll face the
impressive Kongma La. By this point looking at the
massive ice wall of Nuptse-Lhotse, entire Chukung Valley
surrounded in high mountain peaks, Baruntse and Makalu in
far eastern end, not to mention all the glaciers oozing down
all around, brings the ultimate euphoria.
