About Us

Great views of the High Himalaya, hospitable Magar & Gurung villages

Ideal trek for families with children, when being on a limited time or when physical fitness may be an issue, Poon Hill Family trek allows for a fine sample of the lower Himalaya with stunning views of the High Himalaya.

The trek begins in Pokhara with a transfer to trailhead short half an hour drive from the city to Nayapul. From here the trail leads along the same path toward Tatopani on the Kali Gandaki River Valley Trek, passing through Birethanti and Ulleri (1960m) reaching Ghorepani (2750m), the base for an early morning hike to the ultimate viewpoint of Poon Hill at an elevation of 3195m.

Having accomplished the maximum elevation of the trek, from here the trail follows through striking Gurung villages of Tadapani, Ghandruk and Landrung, each allowing for fine views into the Annapurna Sanctuary. From Landruk (1565m) we need to traverse the Dhampus ridge at slightly higher elevation (1650m) before descending to Phedi to catch a ride back to Pokhara.
