Kali
Gandaki River Valley Trek Itinerary
There
are two popular itinerary options:
Option 1:
Trek
Pokhara to Jomsom
Trek Pokhara to Jomsom
and fly back to Pokhara. Alternatively fly Pokhara
to Jomsom and trek in reverse back to Pokhara. The
second alternative may be a bit easier as you trek
downstream although you still have to ascend to
Ghorepani from the the bottom of the Kali Gandaki
river valley. The option may be preferred if
you are on a limited
time or seats on flights to/from Jomsom are an
issue. Either way, the trek offers the opportunity
to savor the views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and
Nilgiri, and number of other peaks. Trekking from
Pokhara's low elevation of 820m above sea level we
gradually gain altitude to Ghorepani (2850m), then
descend to the bottom of the river valley at
Tatopani (1200m), then resume ascending up to Ghasa
(2020m), Marpha (2680m) and finally Jomsom (2710m).
