Cross the impressive Thorong La,
5,416 meters / 17,769 ft, and circle the Annapurna
massif

The Annapurna Circuit trek
leads around the Annapurna massif following a
counterclockwise direction up along Marsyangdi River
Valley to remote Himalaya rain-shadow region of Manang.
From here the trail crosses the impressive Thorung La,
the most difficult part of the trek. From Manang it's steeply
up to the crest of Thorung La at 16,050 feet/4,892m,
then down to Muktinath and on downstream along the Kali Gandaki
River Valley, a pleasant trek in
between the towering giants of Annapurna and
Dhaulagiri. The entire Annapurna circuit adds up to
over 150 miles / 240 km, but the rewards of stunning
panoramas certainly compensate the effort.
